"Though NCCROW is not a co-sponsor of political commentator Ann Coulter's Monday evening lecture in McAlister Auditorium, we do request that everyone please extend to Ms. Coulter the respectful, intelligent welcome with which we endeavor to greet each visitor to our campus."

The above was in the weekly newsletter from the Newcomb College Center for Research On Women (NCCROW). How's that for a delicate way of noting that it is highly likely that some of the readers etc. might not be Coulter fans?

Next up: DO read Sister Joan Chittister's column for this week! It's about the U. S. indirect use of torture.

Gloomy thoughts aside, I am finding it hard to believe it is only Friday. It feels like a Saturday.

This is no doubt because of my schedule. I got home from work about 10:30 AM, having stopped at Popeye's for a chicken liver dinner to have for lunch.

Oh my, but those are good! After pigging out on the whole bunch of livers I took an hour's nap. And then I changed into grubby clothes and went out and weeded an entire barrel full of tall things that spring up. The weeding I did back in the late spring paid off, and there has been little re-growth in the areas where I pulled stuff out.

So here it is, evening, and I have been doing weekend-type work. And it's not Saturday until tomorrow!

This morning, when I was explaining (in VERY rudimentary manner) about writing in HTML to one of the work-study students assigned to our department, I could not believe I was doing that. But, several years ago YD gave me about a 15 minute "how-to" then went off to Oregon for a week or so. I have my websites for my students in HTML. I put up websites before Blackboard became common, and I've never seen any good reason to change.

Luckily, the student figured it looked pretty easy and that he could work it out--at least for what he needed to update the department web site. I hope so.

And tomorrow is Saturday--again. Except that the real Saturday (tomorrow) is Election Day here. In several cases I'm voting against, rather than for. I hope there aren't long lines at the polls. (Right, and the sun rises in the west.)

Well, back to my current book--which I haven't started to read yet, mostly because I haven't decided which one I want to read.
