In one way, I hate to have the classes end--I enjoy teaching and interacting with the students. On the other hand, I can't remember how I used to keep up with the grading for two sections--much less the full load (four sections) I occassionally taught.

In my TBG folder are the last vocab quizzes, and the last of four paperlets.

The good news is that I have a week to get them done--their final is at 10:30 AM next Wednesday. And then I will REALLY have to get to work. That's the last day of finals and I might have just 24 hours to get my grades in. Luckily, I can do that via internet now, rather than having to make a trip into New Orleans.

The year my husband passed was "interesting" to say the least. He was hospitalized about eight hours before I had to give a final. I'd been up all night and YD was a bit concerned about my driving into New Orleans. So she offered to go in and give the exam. I couldn't think of any good reason she couldn't, so I wrote out directions for a) finding the university and parking and b) finding the building, my office, the classroom, and the ladies' room. All for an 8 AM exam.

It worked out fine. The secretary went by the classroom and wondered who she was. The students wondered who she was.

And then there was the matter of getting the grades to the registrar. Once again, no one had the time to drive in there. So I ended up faxing the grade sheets (which the secretary took to the registrar--who wasn't too happy about the fax part till she heard the reasons) and then snail mailing the hard copies. The system survived.

It is SO much easier with the internet.

Tomorrow I'm working the archives, and Friday I shall stay at home all day. Well, maybe not at home, but I won't be going into New Orleans.

I have to get up early tomorrow (if I want a parking space at Tulane) but then I will have several days where the cats and I can share warmth past 5 AM.
