My last class was last Wednesday. Tomorrow is their final. I went in to Newcomb last Thursday, but haven't been into New Orleans for four days! Thus, the mini-break comment.

Mini-Break: What it means is that I had four consecutive days without needing to set the alarm clock. And four evenings when I could watch TV as long as I wanted, without wanting to destroy the alarm clock the next morning.

Tomorrow I go in to Newcomb and Wednesday to Xavier. Then Newcomb again on Thursday. I'll be done with Xavier for a while, so I'll probably go in to Newcomb an extra day.

I got some more weeding done this morning, and when I went to dump it I found TWO turtles sunning themselves on the top step that had water on it. They both scooted back into the water when I appeared.

After lunch I went to PJ's (where there are fewer distractions) and just about finished grading the final paperlets. I have three or four more to do, but I just reached a point where I couldn't stand to read them. Maybe I've been reading too much "good stuff" in the last two years, but the writing skills seem to have declined.

Our "main" newspaper (The New Orleans Times-Picayune) cut their comics pages down to one. They reduced the size of the strips so that they didn't have to drop half and now it is more challenging to read them. I guess readership has been impacted by the smaller population. And costs have gone up, no doubt. I have noticed that the classifieds take up fewer pages than in the past.

It will probably take me a couple of weeks to figure out which of my favorites have been dropped.

Weather here is lovely and warm--not like most of the rest of the country. It's several days since I've had the furnace on, and I've had windows open the last few days.

Eat your hearts out Yankees!
