All sorts of things to do today.
It started with a 7:30 AM appointment with my orthopedist. He told me he was leaving the group practice he's been in for 24 years and going solo. Needless to say, I'll follow him. But I'll miss the staff at the group practice. From there I headed to the medical lab to donate some yellow stuff, but since I was running early I stopped at McDonald's on the way for one of their yummy cinnamon thingies and coffee. Eventually I made it to the lab. It was fairly busy so there was a bit of a wait, but I of course had a book with me. When I left I discovered my keys were not on the clip where they are supposed to be stored. Nor had I put them into a pocket. My thoughts included several four-letter words. When I looked in the car window, there they were on the front seat. So, it was back to the medical building. I didn't see any phone directories around, so I went into my dr.'s office and got help with that. I called Pop-A-Lock and they said they'd send someone and it would be about twenty minutes. So, I settled in the lobby area, where there comfortable chairs, and waited. About the only difference between this location and standing out by my car was the presence of chairs and the absence of wind. The door spent most of its time opening for people going in and out, so the lobby temperature was about the same as the outdoor temperature. But, the guy eventually arrived, opened the car, typed my credit card number into something pocket-sized, got messages back--including verification of the card--and we completed the business at hand. I finally made it back home just before noon, had a bit of lunch, then headed for the nail place at WalMart. Pedicures are SO relaxing. When all my gadding about was done, I settled down for a bit of a nap, and now I'm reading Erica Spindler's Last Known Victim. It is quite good. Her cover has a painted X on it--just like so many of the buildings post-K. And each chapter heading repeats that theme. Even though I need to get up early tomorrow, I just might try to finish the book tonight. Yes, tomorrow I'll be back to a regular routine, which includes getting up early enough to find a nearby parking spot at Tulane. Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
