2008-03-01 6:42 PM New Month (again) Read/Post Comments (2) |
This new month thing comes around fairly regularly, and this year February fit in a bit more evenly. Instead of three days shorter than its immediate neighbors, this year it's only two.
I did a lot of stupid stuff today, like cleaning cat boxes, vacuuming, laundry, etc. The only venture out of the yard was just now when I zipped down to the drugstore to pick up a prescription. This evening I shall just veg out with the TV on while I either read or do crosswords or cross sums puzzles. (Or fall asleep.) There was a new visitor to the yard today--a semi-long-haired black (probably) male. He was quite amenable to head scritching and didn't act like he was waiting to rape the girls that live here. The mail had a new book for me--as best I can remember it's something about Aunt Dimity who either slays vampires or has a friend who does. And just in case I should somehow run out of books to read, I ordered one about female rulers in Byzantium. (Women in Purple - Rulers of Medieval Byzantium, by Judith Herrin). At the moment my mind candy is the first Women's Murder Club book by James Patterson. And my geek reading is a collection about women in the ancient world. I just finished the one about the Orestes trilogy and am about to get into a discussion of Sappho who, with her followers, lived on the island of Lesbos. (It usually takes a few minutes for that to click with my students.) Tomorrow should be a nice day again--I really need to keep picking away at the yard. And that's significantly easier with the stuff (medicinal) I recently got. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
