Translation: too early for football and New Orleans has only an upper-level baseball farm team--the Zephyrs. (The Zephyr was a beloved wooden roller coaster for years at Pontchartrain Park on the lake. It ended up at nearby Six Flags, but Katrina did it in.) At the moment, I think the Zephs are a farm team for the Mets.

Anyway, after early grocery shopping my body suggested a "sinking spell," since I didn't sleep too well last night. The sinking spell was quite satisfactory, but when I recovered, it was then too hot to do yard work.

I did a bit of this and a bit of that, then headed out for supper, going by way of the post office to mail some letters.

I have now just about finished a Lt. Bak mystery (set in New Kingdom Egypt) by Lauren Haney. (I think that's the spelling.) I got a lot of mind candy reading done at Arby's.

I used the time out in the car to try (again) to find the new office of my orthopedist. The problem is that "they" are constructing a new interstate exit, and there are several places where you can't there from here. The other day I tried from the western end. This afternoon I tried from the eastern end and found the complex, along with some great big signs. There's a hospital a bit further west but I didn't attempt to find the hidden entrance.

If I remember correctly, I have an appointment with him this Wednessday. I'll have to check my datebook for that.

Tomorrow I see the chiropractor for my quarterly tune-up. And, as long as I'm at the other end of the parish where YD now works, we'll have lunch together.

I gassed up my car this morning, and the person before me had run up a total of more than $89. We had one van with a 35 gallon tank. I don't even want to think about what that would cost to fill up nowadays. I seem to recall (probably back in the mid-70s) when I filled the tank of a van and had to get special authorization from the credit card company because the total was over $35.

The weather forecast for the coming week has grey clouds each day (possible afternoon showers which will not cool things off but just make it more oppressively humid) with high temps in the lower-mid nineties and lows in the 70s.

And it's not officially summer yet!
