I thought I had today all mapped out.

First, a chiropractor appointment. Then I took YD to lunch. I'd "suggested" sushi, and there was a place nearby that was excellent. So was the company.

I headed back home somewhat later than I'd figured, so I mentally crossed "pedicure" off today's list. Just not enough time.

Instead, I figured I'd touch base, then head for PJ's and some serious geek reading.

Just one little problem--my body wanted a quick sinking spell. So, I set the timer.

I woke up more than an hour later. Obviously, my body wanted a NAP.

Well, at least I'm rested.

Tomorrow will be a work day, so I can't stay up late reading. That doesn't matter--I finished the book I was reading and have not yet settled on the next mind candy.

The mail had two books I'd ordered, so my next "task" is scanning them quickly to evaluate their usefulness. One of them is a definite YES--it's by one of the archaeologists who excavated a major Neolithic site in Turkey. And it is not a duplicate of one (by the same man) I know is somewhere in the house.

Although the cute little weather forecast pictures have gray clouds with lightning every day, today we had no afternoon thunderstorms. Those will no doubt wait till I am in New Orleans and I have to wade to my car.

I haven't watched any news today (yet) so I have nothing to be irritated about on that front.

The current local headlines are about several members of a prominent political family (including a Congressman) being "found out" for bribes, kickbacks, etc.

And the newscasts are talking about making evacuation plans for moving large numbers of carless people to a (hopefully) safer area, in case of impending disaster.

Today the Queen's birthday is celebrated in all of Australia (except WA). YD and I were in Wales on the Queen's official birthday in 2001. We were at the Castle for the official recognition--military parade, umpteen gun salute, etc. There was one little kid on daddy's shoulders who had the timing of the cannon down pat and knew just when to cover his ears.

'Nuff for now--time to watch "Bones."
