In just over four hours I'll have been around for six dozen years. (I was born at two minutes before midnight.)

When I got to work this morning there was a card and a goody on my desk. And when the secretary popped in for something he wished me a happy birthday.

Yesterday I got a card from the radio station where I Read for about 20 years. How they knew it was my birthday is beyond me. If I get lucky and teach at Xavier this fall I'll probably be able to start Reading again.

Today turned out to be extremely interesting. We were told that a group of women's studies scholars from Pakistan would be by in the afternoon. Only problem: the archivist was out, the director wasn't around, the former director was elsewhere, and the publicity person was also elsewhere. That left the assistant archivist, the secretary, and me. Plus someone from Women's Studies.

The people were quite interesting and seemed interested in the Center. My "contribution" to the display was to dig out a folder from a collection I'd processed--one that had been through the flood and looked it.

After the "organized" part was done, several of the women settled on the upholstered furniture in the library and we all chatted. Good thing they were all, of course, fluent and comfortable in English.

When I got to the driveway this afternoon there was Lady on one of the little bridges over a ditch. It was nice and shaded, and she could keep an eye out for the Dispenser of Food.

Which reminds me--I need to put out the dog biscuits for the raccoons.
