This morning I put up a temporary entry, which meant I had to (by my "rules") change colors for the new month.

Later I changed my mind about the partial and deleted it.

The color change remains. It's sort of a warm color.

My little cat came in some time after midnight and settled down on me. She curls up into an amazingly small ball and settles at some bend in my body. She's pretty annoyed when I eventually wake up and expect her to move.

However, some kitty crunchies for her and CC are an appropriate apology.

This afternoon she had a "discussion" with Tom. I don't know what it was about--maybe he talked dirty to her.

I spent the better part of the afternoon at PJ's reading a birthday book, until my new friend (the retired teacher studying for the Lousiana bar exam) stopped by and we had a good long chat.

I realized what time it was--and what day--when a couple of musicians began setting up for the Tuesday evening "open mike" music.

I plan to go in to work tomorrow. I need to get back to the more or less regular work schedule I had before June, and then maybe I'll be able to keep track of what day of the week it is.

New Orleans is gearing up for its big week--the annual Essence festival. That brings all sorts of top entertainment and LOTS of visitors. In addition to the music part, there are all sorts of educational and empowerment seminars, and a lot of high-level networking going on. They had the festival some place in Texas in 2006, but were VERY glad to get back to New Orleans last year.

Well, our "reformist" governor finally vetoed the doubled pay for legislators bill. He'd said all along he would neither sign it nor veto it, but I suspect that when his name was on an application for a recall petition he finally realized he had to veto it, if he was to remain moderately credible in his "reformist" persona. Several legislators were (are?) also the targets of recall petitions.

And Louisiana's first lady got a big write-up in the Tulane alumni magazine. She was in a history class I taught there, and was an engineering major. She also got an MBA from Tulane.

Time to get the dog biscuits out for the masked and rat-tailed critters. I'd forgotten about some grapes in the fridge, and so I tossed the wrinkly things out on the lawn. Those should be a treat.

Happy July!
