This morning my mouse appeared to have died. Its little red eye stayed dark and I couldn't get the cursor to move.

So I stopped at Walgreen's to buy another mouse.

I just now discovered that there are two types of mice--those with round connectors and those with flat connecters.

I got the wrong kind.

BUT.....

In the process of making the change that wasn't completable I removed several clumps of dust bunnies and cat hair from the general area of the CPU. And when I plugged in the old mouse--'twas a miracle indeed! (line from "Camelot") My old mouse lit up and is working again.

On my next trip to Walgreen's I'll return it for a refund. They can decide what to do about the packaging--it's that heavy plastic that can cut you VERY easily, and it is now in more than several pieces.

I went to PJ's this afternoon with resolutions to set up a tentative syllabus. I took the one from 2005 with me. However, I forgot the slip of paper with Xavier's calendar on it. I hope that doing up tentative syllabi (one for MWF, one for TTh) won't jinx me.

It did not rain today and therefore it is still hot.

And we are watching to see just where Fay goes. If this and if that etc. it may turn and head west. At least it's not a hurricane, but it still carries a lot of rain.

My Saints tickets for this week's game found a home--I stopped at the nearby fire station and was assured they would be used. I also told them that my pool was no longer a good source of emergency water (they keep track of things like that--they fill their trucks from hydrants because of things like small pipes and water pressure--and other bodies of water in case of emergency) because of being filled with tree trash and old newspapers.

The guys were really nice there (I didn't run into any firemen I knew) and I think that when there aren't any eager takers I'll pass future tickets on to them.

How much longer are the Olympics going to last? It's my own fault, but I love to watch the swimming and diving--and the gymnastics.

Apparently (according to NPR), there have been "comments" about the very brief bikinis the female beach volleyballers wear. One response--it's the most comfortable thing to wear for the activity. Counter-response--so why don't the men wear bikinis, instead of those super baggy outfits. Good point. (I have no complaints about the outfits worn by the gymnasts and divers.)

Weather permitting, I plan to go work in the archives tomorrow. Same goes for Friday.

Meanwhile, plenty of other things to do around the house.
