2008-09-04 6:47 PM Let There Be Light! Read/Post Comments (1) |
As I started down the street to seek out some
I talked a couple of minutes with the crew chief (who is from Baltimore) and noted that the trucks came from Mt. Airy, North Carolina. It's always interesting to see where the power people come from. As soon as a storm has passed over an area the utilities people are on the way, as are many other disaster workers. At any rate, I have lights again. And I no longer have the sound of my neighbor's generator pounding at me. (I rather imagine they also found it noisy, even though they live on what would be a second floor and the generator is located at ground level.) Sleep should be much better tonight. If it's warm, I can turn on a fan. And it will be quieter. The Saints game is "on" for Sunday. It's the season opener. There won't be quite as much emotion as when they returned from the Katrina-induced "exile," but there will be plenty. It will also serve notice to the rest of the country that New Orleans is bouncing back. The radio this morning had a couple of people from south central Louisiana wondering about the curfews in their parish, and if they would be kept out returning from the Saints game. If they are, I'm sure there will be an impromptu party right there at the parish line, especially if the Saints win. It is very nice to be using my regular computer again. The delete key on the laptop is not as accessible as on my regular keyboard. And this morning the internet connection at PJ's was on the shaky side. So--that's about it. Back to normalcy, whateer that might be. Thanks for all your thoughts and messages. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
