The winds are definitely on the "brisk" side and will no doubt get "brisker."

Weeding was rather nice with the winds to dry the sweat and keep me from roasting.

But--they are driving the water up from the Gulf onto the roads. US 90 has very high water on it, and large sections have been closed. A subdivision near there has five feet of water in the streets already. (The houses are built way high.)

I don't want to think about what is happening along the Texas coast.

Louisiana is under a tropical storm warning.

I'm glad I still have most of the patio stuff in the garage. Sloth sometimes pays off.

I shall stuff the freezer with bottles of water again, in case we have a major power loss.

I won't say my (east side) neighbor's cat is bold, but this afternoon he sat on the porch (inside) and meowed at me, along with my girls, to hurry up with the food. For him, that's chutzpah. For the girls, it's normal.

[more helicopters]

While I was weeding up by the road my (west side) neighbor stopped by on her way home and we chatted for a while, catching up on neighborhood news etc. Emma (originally OD's cat, and most recently YD's cat) has really taken to her (neighbor) and let her know that she (Emma) is hers. Or maybe it's the other way around.

I wonder when the Palin daughter is going to get married. Maybe they're planning on a wedding in Blair House?

Time to get back to storm-tracking--and reading the Mercedes Lackey book.
