I was eating breakfast in the den, watching TV, when my little black and white Lady cat dropped a "gift" on the floor. I praised her, then noticed that said gift was still wiggling.

So did she, so she took it into the kitchen and ended the wiggling.

I praised her, then carefully picked up said gift, (once again the newspaper bag came in handy) and then deposited it in the trash can outside.

She earned her cat food today without having to do lap time.

One less rat in the vicinity.

You know, I'm sure there are people who would probably about pass out in a similar situation--but they probably don't read this journal. Or maybe they are city folks and aren't used to Mother Nature where there are no sidewalks.

I spent most of the afternoon at PJ's reading Sara Evans' Tidal Wave. It's a history of the Women's Movement and a VERY good read, although from this time perspective it is somewhat sad. I recommend it highly. (And someone I send books to fairly regularly is going to get a copy.)

Yesterday evening I looked out the door for some reason and there was Pogo. I said "hello" to him and shut the door. Not five minutes later I heard a steady nom nom nom from the hall.

I have stopped filling up the large dispenser. I suspect that Pogo is not the only nighttime visitor--I've heard nom nom nom in the middle of the night, and it sounds a lot louder. And the feeder has usually been about emptied. I've never been curious enough to see who the visitor might be. That would involve waking up fully and getting up and moving. Easier to just go back to sleep.

So--another IUD gone by. We'll have to see what tomorrow brings.
