Today was Grandparents' Day at the pre-school where my little granddaughter goes.

It was very nice.

It began with the children (four and five year olds) singing extremely well. I'm not sure I've ever heard a pre-school group that didn't sound like something only relatives could admire.

And then there were visits to the kids' classrooms. I was quite impressed by A's teacher and her highly imaginative activities with the kids.

Neither of my kids had pre-school or kindergarten. At the time OD was ready (public school did not have kindergarten) I discovered that she already knew the stuff that was being introduced to the students at the various church kindergartens.

And YD omitted kindergarten at the recommendation of the headmistress of the (Episcopal) school where OD went. YD was reading before she was five, and spent the first six weeks of first grade going (along with the two or three other early readers) to the second grade "low" group for reading.

At any rate--I spent a lovely morning.

Then shortly after I got home I had a phone call from my honorary son. He was at the other end of the parish (where YD lives) and near where he lived back an eternity ago before high school graduation.

So--today was definitely NOT an IUD. In fact, it was a lovely one.
