Short version: did stuff around the house, did some errands, stopped at PJ's, returned home, fed cats, and went on line.
Now to flesh all that out with a few details. Nobody cares about "stuff around the house" so I'll move on to errands. I discovered that I was almost out of stamps, so I swung past the post office on my way to PJ's. I love the automated stamp machine that takes credit cards and I bought a couple of packets of stamps. The machine is in the lobby, and I could not help but notice that there was a sizeable line waiting for individual service. In fact, the line extended into the lobby. As I finished with my little purchase a young woman with two little kids smiled and asked me if I had just bought stamps. I said yes, and she asked if she could buy one from me, because that was all she needed and there were a LOT of people ahead of her. I said no, but I'd give her one. And did. And that action probably boosted my karmic brownie points, because I found every item on my list at Walgreen's, and ended up in a fast checkout line. When I did a load of wash last night I used the last of the detergent and fabric softener. I figured it was easier to pay the higher prices at Walgreen's than to drive out to WalMart and fight the crowds there. Best of all (and another indication of a reward for that stamp) they had 1" crutch tips. That's the size I need for the lawn chairs that want to bury themselves in the ground. When I finally got to PJ's I ran into a young man who used to work there, and most of the afternoon was involved in conversation about what he was doing, where several people were, etc. I did, however, finish Dirk Gently and the Holistic Detective Agency. As is usual with a Douglas Adams book, I'm not too sure about what happened. It made sense as I read it (sort of) but the plot is too convoluted to even attempt to summarize. I definitely recommend the book however. And another Incredibly Unremarkable Day down the hatch. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
