I headed for the porch to put out the possum food (aka cat kibble) and as I got to the door I saw Spot sitting possessively on one of the corner cat shelves.

I said hello to him, he looked at me rather nervously, then stayed where he was as I came partway out the door to pour the cat kibble in its usual dish. All the while I talked to Spot conversationally.

As soon as I'd gone back in and closed the (glass) door, Spot headed for the exit.

However, he got distracted by the cat food smell and stopped to eat.

One of these days I may get to pet him, and eventually take him to the vet.

(I call him Spot because he appears to be solid black except for a dime-sized white spot in the center of his chest.)
