For what it's worth:

Within an hour after the polls closed it was pretty obvious who would be the next New Orleans mayor--Mitch Landrieu, currently Lieutenant Governor.

Not only did he win, he got well over 50% of the vote, so a run-off is not needed. (In Louisiana, you must have a majority of the votes to win--not just the most.) And his votes crossed color lines. This will be the first time in quite a few years that New Orleans will have a white mayor. (So what.)

The guy who came in second is giving thought to running for Lt. Gov. (Mitch's current position).

What will the TV stations do now, with all that advertising no longer need.
