I couldn't think of a clever title for today's "big" activity, so I settled for the name of the company.
The last time I had occassion to call them was when the rising water from Katrina drowned their aerator pump. The son of the owner (a teacher) came out to fix it. But when I found water in the garage I knew it was something else. Right--the septic tank needed pumping. (There's a toilet in the garage.) And that's what got done today. It's been there probably close to 30 years and never gave us a bit of trouble. It's a fancy one--it has an aerator that keeps the fluids from getting stinky. That explains why the backwash in the garage had no odor. Supposedly, the water that goes into the ditch could be drunk. It replaced the original one that did not have that feature and whose outfall line clogged up. The guy today said that doesn't happen with this type. I asked what they did with the "stuff" that had accumulated, and they take it to a local treatment plant at one of the large subdivisions in my area. (No, it's not Magnolia Forest.) I wrote the guy a (large) check and everything is fine now. Before he left he wanted all the toilets flushed to make sure there were no blockages. Definitely a different way to spend an hour. Other than that, it was an IUD. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
