2010-03-23 7:18 PM Finally!! Read/Post Comments (1) |
I finally got back in to work today. From the low level of traffic and people I concluded that it must be spring break or something.
A surprise awaited me back at my little carrel. I generate a fair amount of trash in the process of processing, and I use a rectangular bin about the size of a laundry basket for my trimmings and trash. I've been lining it with a black trash bag which I bring myself. I couldn't help but notice that it is now lined with a white bag very much like what regular office wastebaskets are lined with. I commented on this to the temporary librarian, and she seemed surprised that I'd had to dump my own stuff. But she said there was a new housekeeping person. That person definitely gets my vote--except that my water bottle disappeared. I can deal with that and made a mental note to put it back in the drawer when I leave. Did I mention that my lunch never left the fridge, so I had to dig into my emergency supply and go upstairs to nuke a Cup of Soup that I'd been keeping for just such emergencies. The drive home was only slightly faster than the speed of a moving glacier. Eventually everyone managed to crawl past the non-operating 18-wheeler, but I think it added at least twenty minutes to the drive. My car didn't like this and was being "difficult." The term "spark plugs" comes to mind, and I think tomorrow I shall stop by the car place and chat a bit with the mechanic. The car ran fine until maybe yesterday. It was slightly touchy this morning, but downright difficult this afternoon. It's always something. Let's see--I fed the cats and put out dry food for critters that come onto the screened porch. I need to toss out the raccoon biscuits--they usually come by for the first time just after sunset. And since it's spring, there are probably little ones back in a nest or whatever they call their homes. This evening? Keep on reading Eric's (and Mary's) latest book. I got started at lunch, but then there were people to talk to. It was nice and quiet--no pile-driving today. I don't know if they're finished with that or if this is just a temporary lull. I'll find out sooner or later. Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
