I kid you not. According to the report from the Religion News Service, Mattel has produced a Barbie with a new career. And (of course) extensive wardrobe complete with accessories, such as a tiny thurible (used for wafting incense around). The Rev. Barbie has a Facebook page too.

Ah well--wouldn't life be boring without tidbits like that!

My day was basically boring and blah, but I found my dining room table--at least most of it. It's been the repository for all sorts of stuff, and since I don't "dine" at it, it sort of very seldom gets cleared off. What kind of stuff? Xmas cards from 2006, for starters. I have some more excavation to do, so who knows what other "treasures" might turn up.

And today's paper answered my question about where a new road being built off the highway (to WalMart) is going (other than into the woods.) It will take people to a nature Center being developed on what used to be a Boy Scout camp. The back end of that property is accessible from about a two block walk from my place. I figure that the new place will have taller fences than currently exist.

Years ago--probably about 30--YD and I ran a shelter for the campers who were supposed to be taken back to New Orleans before some hurricane or other struck. (I was involved with Red Cross for years, and did all sorts of stuff like that, in addition to teaching swimming, water safety, first aid, and CPR.) While we waited in the Municipal Auuditorium for the buses to get here from New Orleans, we ended up getting involved in typical scout stuff--comparing and exchanging songs and games. A "campfire" was crafted from overturned chairs and red blankets. I don't remember if they got the kids that night, or whether it was morning, but I do recall making mounds of PBJs when they got there.

And the hurricane took an eastward swing and we had barely gale force winds.

So--another IUD, but a very pleasant one.
