It's 1940 CDT and outside it is definitely dark. Is it a storm in the offing, or have I not been paying much attention to the slowly shortening days?

Both, I guess. Weather is not great--it's been on again, off again with the low pressure system that seems to have settled across the Gulf Coast. Usually these things move through, but this one seems to like it here. Somehow, I don't think my friend in Mobile and I are going to be able to get together this summer.

For me it was another IUD--I didn't even go anywhere except for the post office and then to Arby's for a very late lunch.

I'm getting close to the end of the Sherri Tepper book (Gibbon's Decline and Fall). And the best part is that I can't foresee the ending. There are so many options possible. Once I finish it I'll be sending it to my friend in California, and I look forward to her reaction.

It's raining again this evening, and the rain is (of course) accompanied by thunder. And it will be followed by lower temperatures--and higher humidity.

Saturday will be the Saints' first pre-season home game. I hope they do better than they did this past weekend. I'm passing my tickets along to my ever-helpful next door neighbors. The season is a sellout, which means home games are on TV also.

And that does it for this evening. Rain means cuddly cats tonight.
