[I had just about finished an entry when something happened and I managed to delete it. This time the cats had nothing to do with it.]

No rain (yet?) today. That means it got a bit warmer.

I really needed to get some stuff, and I didn't feel like going out with the wad of gauze wrapped around my head and under my chin that keeps the dressing in place on top of my head. I gave it a bit of thought, then found a nice long filmy scarf. It worked beautifully--no one gave me funny looks. If they thought anything, they would probably figure Muslim.

Mombasa, Kenya is majority Muslim, I think. It makes sense, since Mombasa is a port city.

During my week in the hospital there I had time to see a lot of daily life--and a Muslim nurse to answer any questions I might have. She was from a well-to-do family and found out what culture shock is when she did rural work as part of her nursing training.

And one day I looked out at the little park area, and there was a little girl who apparently just gotten her hijab (veil). She was so proud of now being a "big girl."

I called my doctor's office early and got the appointment for follow-up. The receptionist listened to my "problem" and said the P.A. could take care of it. Fine with me--it's potentially something incredibly routine. And I really don't want to wait for the M.D.--who has more complex matters waiting for him.

And now it's time to think about eating something. The salad I bought at WalMart is calling to me.
