I made it today!

Got my body out of bed in time to stop at Mickey for a sausage biscuit and coffee, which I ate on my way in.

And I'd started out early enough to beat the traffic.

BUT--people who took the interstate in were not as fortunate.

There was about a six mile plus string of red taillights visible on the inbound interstate bridge over Lake Pontchartrain. (The bridge is about six miles long.) Those of us using the bridge built in 1928 had no such problem.

Help had to approach from the south end--and it's more than several miles away. I was well into Orleans Parish before I saw the first of several emergency vehicles heading for the wreck. (The traffic was backed up too solidly to there from the east end.) I'll be interested to hear/read about what/who caused the mess.

I'm sure a LOT of people were late to work.

[The giant cat just slipped off the table behind the printer and is--of course--acting as though he planned it that way. It was not one of his better moves.]

And then I wasn't in the lane I needed to be for the direct route once I was off the interstate, so I continued to the next exit and took a somewhat circuitous route. (At least I know the streets in that area well enough to know where I am and how to get where I want to.)

My drive home was uneventful, thank goodness.

After Sunday's loss, people weren't talking too much about the Saints. I did, however, receive a very nice note from the person who ended up with the tickets. Even when they lose, a pro game is still an Experience.

I haven't decided yet whether to go in to work tomorrow, or spend the day at home. I think I'll see how the weather is. I try to go in at least twice a week. They give me a collection of several cartons, and I plug away till they are all processed. (I generally give them about a week's warning when I'm finishing up.)

Despite minor stuff, today was a pretty good one. And I am sure glad I take the old bridge into New Orleans.
