Almost too much of an IUD to bother talking about.

BUT--there is all that Yankee water slowly making its way to the Gulf of Mexico.

I haven't watched the evening news yet, but updates during the day have had minimal information.

I like the detailed reports where they show the maps and the possible paths.

If I was teaching you can bet I'd be putting a significant amount of time into cause and prevention of massive flooding.

In addition to the obvious result of more water coming down from up north (snow melt and other stuff) there are explanations of actions taken to (hopefully) increase the odds of the water staying within the banks and, (if that is not possible) actions to reduce the negative effects of flooding.

One (of course) is to raise the banks.

But then, will the additional water weight have a "negative effect" on the banks? (such as breaking them down)

And, what about the areas that are the recipients of diverted water? What damages will that cause?

Anybody got any school kids (jr. high and up) who might be needing some sort of a science report/project next year? Let them start learning about all the aspects of controlling the MIssissippi.

Bottom line--other than following flood news, an IUD.
