This is the first time in quite a while (since the house AC quit a bunch of years ago) that I've really noticed the heat.
I just finished rearranging the junk on the papasan (in the air-conditioned computer room) so that tonight it can be a human bed. And tomorrow I SHALL go in to work. The assorted critters are staying outside in lovely shaded places where they can still get breezes. Around noon I headed out to WalMart for some critter food, people food, and other stuff. And their lovely air conditioning. I was "reassured" that the heat was not my imagination by the noon news and weather report. (On the other hand, I am way past those unexpected "hot spells," so it must be real.) I am DEFINITELY going in to work tomorrow. And if something happens and the AC fails in my building, you will me set a land speed record for getting into car and heading home in air-conditioned comfort. If I'm going to be hot, it will be on my turf. What if it's still disgustingly hot on Saturday? Well, the other day I realized that I haven't been to the air-conditioned shopping center for about five years. The last time I was there was after hip #2 and I found it to be almost hostile to handicapped. They had taken out all the benches, so there was almost nowhere to sit and rest. And the only thing remotely like a bookstore was small and crowded. Oh well--enough griping for today. I remembered to fill up my gas tank yesterday, so I have plenty of fuel for the commute.
