When I was growing up my mother passed along the following--heard from her mother.

Horses sweat, gentlemen perspire, ladies glow.

Have I ever been glowing this week--and for probably several more days.

I am looking forward to going in to work Monday. And if anything happens to the AC in the building I work in, I'm headed back home!

Some people have signs saying "will work for food." My motto is "will work for AC."

When I'm in beastly hot weather I cope by spending a lot of time in the computer room, or in my car driving to air-conditioned stores.

At one time I went to a local coffee shop just about every summer afternoon, but they relocated to the other end of town--way too far to drive. The building is now a little sandwich/salad eatery.

However, my location amidst the tall trees helps keep the place cool. The strategically placed fans keep the air moving.

Today falls into the IU (Incredibly Unremarkable) category. I got little stuff done around the house, and had a satisfactory nap.

Thank goodness the cats did not want to cuddle. They are NOT stupid animals.

News about the heat around here has been sort of pushed to the side because of the pollution of the Pearl River in Mississippi by a paper plant a bit upstream.

The fish kill is mind-boggling. And the "incident" happened relatively close to the mouth of the Pearl, so a lot of "bad" water is going into the Gulf.

Time to settle in for the evening.
