An at-home day, with nothing out of the ordinary.

In the latter part of the afternooon my neighbor came over and mowed the patch of green stuff that passes for a lawn, then we sat and chatted and watched the raccoons. I had tossed out some dog biscuits, which the raccoons seem to like very much.

Between the dry cat food and the dog biscuits, the raccoons that hang around here have a fairly decent menu.

CC appears to have totally forgiven me for the trip to the vet.

My next challenge will be getting Spots there.

So far, the weather is hot, but bearable. The summer climate here often has afternoon showers, which cool things down, even though they raise the humidity.

Unless it's rainy tomorrow, I plan to go in to work. I'll get up at the go-to-work hour and see what's what meteorologically.

The news around here focuses on the massive river pollution by a paper mill in western Mississippi which has brought about a major fish/turtle/etc. kill. Warnings are out reminding people that the water is NOT fit for human swimming and to keep track of their kids.

I had one brief outing this afternoon when I mailed some stuff that I'd finished too late for pickup by my carrier. I also picked up a prescription I had called in a day or so ago.

And now for an evening of mindless TV in the background while I read another mystery by J. D. Robb.

How's that for an "exciting" day?
