Curled

He cannot feel, dare not feel.

For
Smirks curled up on staring faces.
Strangers they belonged.

But
Strangely familiar they are,
Though metamorphosis had touched.

Then
It dawned these were beloved;
They left him chilled to the bone.

For
These smirks curled up on beloved faces
turn strangers,
Doubled pain so excruciating

I curled like those smirks, alone.
