2007-07-29 11:45 PM White Men Can't Dance Mood: confused Read/Post Comments (0) |
Tom and I went with his parents to see Chicago in concert tonight. I am not sure how to describe the events of the evening.
The concert itself was fine enough, but it was the antics of the people around us that were most amusing. In particular, there was a middle-aged couple dancing in the aisle next to us who either 1) didn't realize that everyone could see them dancing 2) didn't care that everyone could see them dancing or 3) were too drunk to realize that their dancing was actually more like an acrobat getting hit with a tazer gun while having a seizure. The man, who was wearing a Rolling Stones t-shirt, would grind his hips like a Chippendale’s dancer and then leap in to air guitar. He had the worst case of ‘dancing white man’s overbite’ that I’ve ever seen. The woman was clearly helpless against his animal magnetism. Her dancing likened a marionette being manipulated by someone wearing hockey gloves. It was all so surreal. Everywhere you looked there were men and women in their late 50’s and early 60’s drinking too much and ‘dancing’ very poorly. I turned to Tom and said, “In 20 years that will be me at a U2 concert drooling, “Yeah Bono! You’re dead sexy, man!” Oh wait. I think I did that already. I need to get some sleep.
