Some crazy good news of the "totally unexpected but awesome" variety arrived yesterday, and I'll share it as soon as it's all official-like. I didn't literally win the lottery, but I feel like I won the lottery, because it's really good news from a clear blue sky.

Yesterday was my day off, and I spent the morning writing another few thousand words of Dead Reign and e-mailing back and forth with my agent. (Oh, and levitating with happiness.) I also read a bit of Logorrhea, and Daniel Abraham's story -- "The Cambist and Lord Iron: A Fairy Tale of Economics" -- is awesome, and should definitely be an award contender.

In the afternoon Heather had a prenatal appointment, and I joined her. This wasn't a fun appointment -- no ultrasound, no listening to the heartbeat -- but we get that next month. After the appointment we decided to celebrate things and swung by Fenton's on Piedmont Ave., where we ate delicious sandwiches and fries and milkshakes. Life was good! Back home, we watched more Rome (heartbreaking stuff) and then I took a little walk because exercise after milkshakes is a good policy, and then we hung out with my sister-in-law and our nephew downstairs; they're moving soon, probably, to a bigger place, and we'll miss them a lot.

The evening was mellow, more reading and TV and playing with the cats and being content and excited about all the cool new developments in our life. Things are looking up.
