Yipee! Cards win! This is the best thing that has happened to me all day, so forgive my giddiness. This morning, after getting up early and rushing through my morning routine so I could show a girl around the apartment, I went out to my car to go to my very last class of the school year to discover that I had a flat tire. The very same tire which I replaced last year about this time. It was too late to make it to class by walking -- luckily I was able to get ahold of my prof before she left her office and explain the situation -- so I called AAA and got them to come put my spare on so I could at least drive to campus and work. I was planning on doing a load of laundry while I was up there, so my good jeans would be clean for the weekend festivities, but discovered that the machine that puts money on my card so I can use the washer was not working. Then when I was leaving work and stopped to pick up my paycheck, there was no one in the office, so I couldn't get it. So so far just a bunch of wasted time and inconvenience. But next, I drive down to the service station and discover my only a year old tire is busted beyond what can be fixed with a $15 patch. $80 new tire. This gets put on pretty quick, and I think I will just be able to make it to the courthouse to pay my parking ticket (I forgot what day it was and parked on the wrong side of the street) so I can get the discounted rate for next day payment. I do get there, and get all the way up to the window to find that they only take cash and I have no time to go get enough before the office closes. So now I have to pay a $40 fine instead of a $25 one. Arrrgh! The only good news is that it looks like I won't have to pay extra rent in June. In the last few days I have actually wound up with a surplus of good prospective renters, enough so that I'm really going to hate having to disappoint one of them. Another reason, probably, why Shazia was only too happy to dump the roommate-finding responsibilities on me. She is really good at avoiding conflict. Well, she can damn well consider it her wedding present. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
