I was this close to giving out an A+ this week, just on the merit of the four game sweep of the Blue Jays-- the hottest team in the difficult AL East coming in. Woody took a no-hitter into the 8th inning, Pujols went 7-7 over the last two games, and when the bullpen gave up 4 runs in the ninth inning, we were already ahead by 12. But then we go and lose 8-1 to the perpetually mediocre Orioles. A+ is for getting everything right, after all. Started my Columbia job this week, which is really feeling like it's going to be great. There is a lot of mindnumbing stuff, like labeling files and checking disks of digital photos, but there is enough to do that when one thing gets too awful I can leave it for awhile and work on something else. Interestingly enough, a person who works at the American Physics Institute contacted my supervisor this week regarding some photos he was looking for for an article, and when he found out that I was there working on the archives he was really happy. As I have learned, Lamont-Doherty (the actual name of the place) is pretty significant in terms of contributions to geophysics, oceanography, etc., and the API had become concerned that no work was being done on its archives. So the American Physics Institute, of all places, not only knows of my existence, but is really pleased about it. How odd. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
