The scariest stat from yesterday's OU women's basketball game: 0 turnovers for Courtney Paris. This was her biggest weakness last year. Of course everyone else was happy to make up the difference, but it's still a trend to watch as it takes her yet another degree up the "unstoppability" meter. Also encouraging is Ashley Paris's continuing improvement; it will be interesting to see whether Sherri continues to us her as a sixth woman or if she's tempted to play both twins at the same time, (especially if Kendra Moore's play doesn't improve) though that might call for an unconventional line-up. Still, considering all three of the girls listed at point guard on the offical roster scored a combined 0 of our 105 points yesterday while committing a third of our turnovers, perhaps unconventional might be worth a look. I guess we have to have something to work on early in the season.

I give up on the NFL. Trying to help Lala with her pick 'em league this year has become an exercise in futility. The only team I seem to have a good read on is the Lions (called last week's upset, called San Francisco beating 'em in a hangover game this week). I'm about to tell Lala to pick her own games -- this is turning into one of those years where random chance has a better record than anyone who tries to apply logic.

Almost to the halfway point of the NaNoWriMo word count! I didn't do as many words this weekend as last so I can't afford to slack off during the week like I did last week. I'm starting to believe, though, that 50,000 words may actually get me to the end of the novel as I'm nearing what I consider to be the pivotal event that sets up the long slide to the finish. Which would make the completed rough draft about 80,000 words, which in turn gives me a lot of material to throw out and re-write from scratch. Hee.

And just because I haven't really said anything before, Yay Elections! With a special shout-out to my generation for turning out in record numbers for the second election in a row.
