Music: Random public radio TV/Movie: The Critic Link o' the Day: The Mercury Theatre on the Air A quick journal entry afore Pretty Maggie arrives. It seems that holiday traffic and unplanned for delays at the ferry have delayed things. But hey--three day weekend! I mentioned yesterday that I was reading David Feintuch's CHALLENGER'S HOPE. I finished it this afternoon. I was a little disappointed with the ending. There were events in the novel that cried out for justice--a reckoning. It was only partially delivered. Mayhaps the next book will start off by answering that demand. So to while away the reading hours before picking up PRISONER'S HOPE, I'm going through a 1933 edition (I _love_ used bookstores!) of W. Somerset maugham's AH KING, a collection of six stories. (Who's surprised I'm picking up another Maugham book. Show of hands? Ah... I thought so.) And today's link is to The Mercury Theatre on the Air website. Whether or not you're an Old Time Radio fan or not, this is still a good site to check out if only for some recordings of broadcasts of classic stories such as "Dracula," "Treasure Island," "The Immortal Sherlock Holmes," "The War of the Worlds," "Mutiny on the Bounty," "Beau Geste," "Lost Horizon" and many more. MP3 and Real Audio available. Short entry... time to fly. Have a good weekend y'all! Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
