Music: B-52's "Time Capsule" TV/Movie: Final Fantasy VIII (it's like playing a movie) Link o' the Day: Punchandjudy.net I'm baaaaack! Okay, so I wasn't really away, but I wasn't around neither. Anyways, I'm back and flying this computer to Cuba! Okay not Cuba. But maybe I'll just take a spin around the block. Then I need to catch up on all the hundreds of journalscape entries others have made. In any case, the three-day weekend was very relaxing, although I'm amazed how beat I can feel going back to work after such a relaxing weekend. Fortunately the day flew by and I got a lot of work done. Once home, I got even more work done. I'm back to the line edits for HOLLYWOOD'S GOLDEN AGE which are progressing along nicely. Editing and tweaking the layout for the next SFWA Bulletin, and at least looking at some of my writing. Pretty Maggie and I visited the RI Treasures exhibit at the convention center on Sunday. It was pretty good--but not quite as good as I had hoped it would be. I won't begrudge them the $9 ticket price as some of the money will go to building the Heritage Harbor Museum, but the exhibit overall could have given me some more bang for the buck. It was nowhere near as nice as the Smithsonian exhibit that passed through town a few years ago. Still, they did have a copy of the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the Rhode Island Constitution as well as some interesting old naval exhibits (I'm a sucker for old sailing ships). I had been looking forward to taking a gander at the Lovecraft manuscript only to find that it was only a facsimile. The same w/ the Poe items. I felt a little gypped. Still, if you're in Rhode Island and have a few bucks to burn, I'll still recommend it. Rhode Island Treasures will be at the Rhode Island Convention Center until June 15th. I finished watching the SF Channel's production of DUNE Monday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's far superior to the David Lynch version (which I still maintain wasn't all that bad). Today's link goes to Punchandjudy.net. Chris Reilly, the writer and creator of this version of the ancient saga of Punch and Judy, is an old friend of mine. Ignore 95% of what he has in his bio. He lies and is convinced that this strategy will keep the boegymen at bay. The poor sap. He and I used to collaborate on projects many a year back. We used to co-write a column on comic books for a local arts newspaper and interviewed folks like Charles Schulz, Wil Eisner, and Neil Gaiman. We were also in the same garage-punk band, Gothic Snowtire, former roommates, drinking buddies, and got ourselves into too many sorts of trouble--some of which I'm not entirely sure have expired under the Statute of Limitations. So 'nuff said. Visit the site. Hey, buy his book. He'll be at ComiCon, so he'll even sign it. I warn you now, however. His handwriting is atrocious. Remember too, he lies. It's what he does for a living. And Chris, if you're reading this. Thhpppppt! Use that script I wrote for you or I will haunt your dreams. I can do that sort of thing, you know.
