Music: Gerry O'Connor TV/Movie: Tapeheads Link o' the Day: Welcome To Dreamland Missed a day. Whoops. Well I've started to get in some of the edits for the Jan Wahl book. There are a fair number as the author is really putting his heart and soul into this project. It's going to be a very good book. Nearly finished. I did more work on the SFWA Bulletin as well. Finishing up articles and layout and nudging the editor for changes and such. Have to work on the cover for the next issue as well. I just discovered that part of our updated FiOS package gives me on-demand movies from the Flix network as well. Some fun older films to be found there, most notably Cecil B. Demented by John Waters, and one of my favorites from my early years--Tapeheads starring a young (but post-Savage Steve Holland) John Cusack and Tim Robbins. It also features one of my all-time favorite singers--Sam Moore (of Sam & Dave fame). Good times. Good times. Flix is also showing This Filthy World: John Waters which is nearly an hour and a half on sharp commentary on pop culture, tastelessness, and his own films. He's a fascinating speaker and it's a lot of fun to watch him work an audience. -=-=-=-=- Because I missed the Sunday music session at Ward's Pub, I dropped by the Tuesday session at Patrick's Pub. I picked up a new tune called "The Old Favourite" but can't decide if it's best played as a jig or a slide. I also got a chance to try out a few tunes that I recently re-learned,i.e., I used to know them, but after not having played them for over a year, I pretty much forgot. This apparently happens a lot to people. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- How do I keep my brownies from crumbling? Maybe I'm not letting them cool enough. These questions, and more, are why I don't sleep at night. Speaking of John Waters, today's link goes to a pretty comprehensive site devoted to him. It's called Welcome To Dreamland Cheers! Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
