Reading: Year's Best Comics 2006 ed. by Harvey Pekar
Music: The Poxy Boggards
TV/Movie: WKRP In Cincinnati Season One
Link o' the Day: John Scalzi's novel Agent To the Stars

Long day. But productive. Most of the day has been spent squaring off old jobs, prepping new ones, and working on an index. Some artwork too.

So...so...so...there was a debate last night, right?

Oh yeah. There was something about it...something I felt worthy of commenting on and--OH YEAH! OBAMA ROCKED!

Okay, maybe not rocked...but certainly jazzed up his approach. More forceful. Didn't take so much crap from the the Old White Man. Obama came off as a president for the 21st century as opposed to more of the same.

Good news.

Pretty Maggie and I recently celebrated our first year anniversary with our Lake George trip.

You may be able to see some pics here.

'twas a great trip. I talked a bit about it yesterday. I gave Pretty Maggie a nice emerald bracelet (she likes jewelry) and I got a DVD box set and a radio adapter for my iPod (I like toys). We had dinner at a couple of nice Lake George restaurants. I highly recommend The Tamarack Inn. They have a great pecan-crusted rainbow trout and a Yankee pot roast to commit sins for.

And now that we're a year later, we're starting to seriously look at some houses. We may be ready. Before the banking crisis, we had a good plan. Now that it looks like loans are going to be trickier to get, we're hoping we can find something we can work with. We'll be working with a financial advisor and a real estate broker to help us through the process.

Geez...property owners. Good lord. But we've found some great possibilities. Pretty Maggie wants a big back yard with room for a pool and hottub. I want a good porch, storage space, and a place for a home office or two. We don't mind doing work so long as it doesn't involve rewiring, replumbing, or major structural repair.

But this is cart before the horse time. The current financial crisis may delay our plans for a couple of months as we build the credit history up a bit more and wait for things to settle down, but the real estate broker seemed confident that we'd find something by the end of the year.

I'll bet any money that the process will be less work than the wedding.

Okay, not my most glowing journal entry. It's important for me, though, to try and write an entry every weekday at the very least. I feel it sharpens my mind, and keeps me focused on writing in other venues.

Works for me.

Today's link goes to John Scalzi's novel Agent To the Stars--available for free reading online. I've not finished it yet myself, so I'll hold on reviewing it at the moment. Check back on later dates for a quick review.

Cheers!
