Music: early John Hartford TV/Movie: Flesh for Frankenstein Link o' the Day: Tales of Rocky Point Park Project X? Oh yeah! I suppose it's time to announce what that's all about. I'm still finishing up the website and putting the touches on official press releases to be sent out next weekend, but Groundhog Day seems to me a good day to officially release infomation on what Project X is all about. Ben Ohmart of Bearmanor Media and I have teamed up to create a new publishing line for graphic novels and books related to comics and other geek interests. I've worked with ben for many years now and we've always talked about doing some kind of project together. We batted around ideas for awhile when the most obvious choice struck me out of the blue. Get into the graphic novel biz! Ben has the publishing experience on the business end, and I've been a comic book fan all my life. No brainer, right? Add to that I know a couple of people in the biz who have been helping us get started and what was an idea is growing to a reality. Hence...TumbleTap - What's New in Graphic Novels. And the timing is perfect. Our first titles this year will include the Rogue Satelite Comics series by Chris Reilly and Kevin Atkinson, followed by the two-volume complete collection of Oz Squad by Steve Ahlquist. We're also planning a Special Edition volume of Rogue Satelite featuring interviews, origins, never-before-seen excerpts from the Chris Reilly notebooks, and some never-before-seen stories! And that's just the start. We're well on our way to getting our first book out the door, and even before then we'll have a Special Sampler Edition available. This weekend I'll be attending the New York ComicConto start promotion, meet folks, talk about our current projects and to possibly discuss future projects. The website should be up by then and I'll keep y'all posted on when it's ready. This whole thing is a Work In Progress, but I'm happy to say that it's all looking pretty damn good! You heard it here first. -=-=-=-=-=- The weekend was a nice, relaxing one. Dinner with friends, had a night playing banjo at Ward's Pub, napped and napped. I got some good work done, too. Today will be a somewhat busy day, but not a bad one. (I'm getting an early start for one thing) and should blaze through a number of items on the To-Do list today. I finished up the changes to Lonnie Burr's book and just need to add some finishing touches to the cover layout. Work continues on the Hardcastle and McCormick book, and the SFWA Bulletin is now ready for the printer. It should be a nice productive day and a good way to start the week. And the cats haven't fought in nearly a day. -=-=-=-=-=- Today's link goes to Tales of Rocky Point Park, and independent comic production by Jason Mayoh that explores the myths and legends of the infamous Rhode Island-based Rocky Point Park (featured in the full-length documentary You Must Be This Tall To Ride). Jason's compiled all three issues into a single volume so buy them separately, or bound together. Trust me, it's a great read--especially for old horror comics fans. And if you're a New Englander and have even the most vague memories of the park--you're going to want this set. (Heck, buy two sets...they're bound to become collectors' items.) Cheers!
