Reading today: Nyet.
Music today: 96.3 WDVD TV today: "Elmo's World" video ----------------------------------- We had a babysitter! And we went out! To see a movie! A good one! At the rate of babysitters these days, you have to pick and choose these kinds of date nights. She arrived a little after 6pm to get acquainted with the house and play with Roman. We arrived early at the theater so popped in to see 5 min. worth of "Van Helsing." Doug was geeked. I'm not so sure now. Anyway, we saw "Troy." Actually, we were so excited to be out that just the previews were worth it! Lots of good movies coming out this summer (or are already out!). Our babysitter had a wonderful time with Roman. He did give her a hard time going to sleep too, just like he does us. Struggling in the rocking chair, but she just kept at it, like we do. Good for her. But she said otherwise he was a lot of fun, and they clearly did some playing here in the basement. The movie was excellent. No "Lord of the Rings" of course, but was really good. "Inspired" by The Iliad. Lucky they said that, because there are parts that are quite different and even fabricated. I let out a small cheer when Aeneas makes a cameo in the final sack of Troy, which is where "The Aeneid" picked up - as Aeneas is escaping (I read the book in its Latin version in high school). Everyone did a fantastic job in the movie - Eric Bana (of "Hulk" movie infamy) was a terrific Hector, Peter O'Toole a wonderful King Priam, Sean Bean wowing the heck out of us as Odysseus. And as Doug says, Brad Pitt wasn't Brad Pitt-ish, as he was a believable Achilles. Wonderful night out, and babysitter said she'd sit for us again, anytime. Yay us!
