2003-02-15 1:09 PM Not Following Reservation Procedures Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.
Got to work at past 10am having spent Valentine's day out until 3am. I told the people from the school going stargazing on Monday to be here at 8am, and they showed up at 930am. They even had additional questions like: is it okay to bring one preschool child? will the students be given a break during the 4pm - 10pm period? First of all, I never mentioned that it's up to 10pm, The latest we've ever gone was 9pm. I don't know where they got that idea. If I had been here when they showed up, I would have told them that during the stargazing, we allow the students to eat while waiting their turn to look through the telescope. Second, if they had processed the paper, they could have asked the Vice President for Administrative Services himself if he would allow the guards to break the rule allowing children in campus. I sent them a fax telling them the VP-Admin had set a new policy that entry permits had to be processed three days before the scheduled visit, and that they had to go here to help persuade him to approve their late request. I had asked them to send a letter first because they had initially requested for an overnight stargazing. But in our weeks of calls, I never said it was confirmed until they sent the letter. Next time I won't mention any date until the letter arrives. And I'll fax them the guidelines. I'll dig it up and print it out or make a new one. Sigh.
