2003-03-13 8:06 PM Hanging In There For the Weekend Stretch Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.
I got home at 2am last night, and went to sleep at around three, only to wake up at 5. I didn’t get up immediately, turning off my four alarms (why does that sound so familiar?) one at a time so as not to wake up my roommate. I left the house at around 6am, and still had an hour and a half preparation time in the office before my 8am class. My Thursday class (only one in the morning) is basically a repeat of the Tuesday morning experiment, and I learned from my mistakes back then, even though this are supposed to be choice student classes. The experiment went faster today than last Tuesday. I’ve had classes before where I had several laboratory classes of the same subject in one week. By the time I got to the last one, my spiel, lecture and instructions were well honed. It should actually be a breeze to explain the theory and procedure each time, since I’ve done all the Physics lab experiments in mechanics, electricity and thermodynamics. But I guess the three-month lapse between repeat performances makes one forgetful. I actually have co-teachers who have their lab manual supplementary notes on overhead projector transparencies, which they use every term. I could do that, but how would I learn the variety of what works better or doesn’t until I actually try different approaches? The students also told me today that they haven’t been assigned their individual reports yet. With this I’m actually strict, like some of my co-teachers, that since it’s an absolute requirement for the course, they get a failing grade if they fail to submit one. I’ve seen teachers give a score of zero on the spot for a report submitted late, but still accepted and kept by the teacher as proof that the student submitted all the requirements. Sometimes you gotta do things by the letter. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
