2003-03-17 8:38 PM I Must Be Doing Something Right Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.
Twice today students of mine asked if I taught any other natural science subjects, because that's what they would enroll in, since they still have a natural science elective left. I was sorry to disappoint them that Planetary Physics is the only natural science course I teach. And I was flattered. But not enough to start teaching Environmental Physics. That subject is a lot more structured that what I'm doing right now, and full of topics I'd have to dig deep to find interesting. I guess that's my secret. (Whoops just spilled it all over the net!) I have to find the subject interesting to myself before I can start to make the students interested in it. It's different with Physics for Engineering and Science students, of course, because they need that stuff to do their job well, and it's that what motivates me to teach it properly and for them to try and comprehend what I'm showing them. But for the service courses, I have to like rocks first if I wanted to teach rocks. And I don't, so I don't. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
