Mood: Hanging In There Read/Post Comments (0) |
2003-03-25 5:33 PM A Not So Hectic Week So Far My Tuesday laboratory class
had their first optics experiment today, which necessitated us to move to a lab
room that had black curtains on the windows as wooden panels over the glass
panels on the doors. Now, since the experiment
procedures also came with the materials when we bought them from Pasco,
I didn’t lecture at the start, although for once, the students were waiting for
me to start the lecture. I told them it
was because the experimental procedure provided was already self-explanatory,
although the real reason was because I had only gotten the papers that morning
and had no time to bone up on them. My Liberal Arts mentorees
(is that a word?) has already scheduled a defense for next week, and they
expected me yesterday to give them my comments on their first draft (which they
gave me last week). Since they did not
tell me when they expected to get it back, I had put off reading it to the back
burner, so I told them to just come back for it. What’s weird about this arrangement is that I’m one of those
helping them come up with a good paper, and at the same time, I’ll be one of
those to which they are going to defend the thesis. My Computer Science
consulters were supposed to have their proposal re-defense today (and I was
supposed to attend), but one of the panelists was sick, so it was moved to
Thursday. Unlike the other group, since
I could really use the courseware these kids are going to be making, I have
given them all the ammo to defend their having to make the software, including
the keywords: portability, integration, focus, emphasis. Anyway, I had another
two-hour-plus post-lunch nap at my desk again today. The way I measure how badly I needed the sleep is how long it
takes me to awaken, and my joints ache afterwards. Today it was pretty bad. But then again, it’s what I get for getting up three hours before my first class during Tuesdays and Thursdays, instead of two hours during MWF. I’d rather not reset my alarm every other day.
