2003-04-11 5:35 PM Taking On the Stragglers Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.
No more finals today, but it’s now 4 days until I have to compute all their grades. Checked most of the Astronomy finals yesterday. Except for one who didn’t answer the last 1/3 of the exam, scores were generally in the 30’s and 40’s, with 47 being the highest. Today is the submission of the oral report videos of my laboratory classes. I’ve received some, though probably not yet all. I said all reports have to be in VHS, V8 or CD format. There are two who submitted a VHS spool in one of those mini cartridges. How the heck am I supposed to view that without the adapter cartridge for a VHS player? Also, the lab student who has been absent for the past month or so showed up today, submitting her requirements and taking the exam, despite not having made up the experiments she missed. She got 29 out of 30, which means they probably coached her already on the type of exam that will be used. I forgot to ask her to accomplish and submit a special exam form, so I just texted her to do that, otherwise the score from her exam will not be recorded. She says she’ll process it on Monday, the day before course card distribution. I don’t know if the registrar’s office will still do that, so I told her to try it tomorrow. I talked to the Computer Science astronomy software computer students. Their proposal paper is approved, conditionally again. This time their adviser and panelists are questioning their methodology, which has remained unchanged and undisputed since their first draft. Talk about nitpicking.
