Mood: A Little Deflated Read/Post Comments (0) |
2003-10-01 4:29 PM Having a Skewed Perspective of What's Difficult and What the Panel Wants Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.
In my 1030am class, I wasn't up to resuming their discussions on the constellations or the zodiac constellation calendar, so we had our second group work about the phases of the moon, using the half-shaded styrofoam balls on sticks that my students submitted last term. At least that makes this activity impromptu and ready-to-run instead of requiring lead time for gathering materials to bring to class like last term. What I didn't like was that I had to repeat the instructions several times to individual inquiries from the groups because some of them weren't listening the first time I explained (as usual). Next time, and with the next groupworks, I'm definitely typing out and printing instruction sheets. My thesis advisee also showed up five minutes before my class, and I told him to return at 1130am, which he did. He showed me the screen that pops out of his main program window when he clicks the meteor shower button, listing around 8 events that occur annually. He says that his research uncovered when the showers have begun to stray from their associated constellations, which he'll display when a button he's adding beside the shower listings is clicked. His opening screen is going to look pretty cluttered if he doesn't change to a menu bar with pull down sub-menus. Just like last week, tomorrow I'll relate about my 230pm class today.
