2006-09-05 10:01 AM A Student Wanting An Easier Time Studying Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. I thought I was finished talking about Deiv, at least for this week. It turns out that's not the case. He showed up for academic advising today. Well not exactly. He had already found out the schedules of the classes he is supposed to take, including the ones petitioned by the third year engineering irregulars, and he decided that he didn't like the overall schedule he had. So he wanted to drop some of the subjects, and add the others. The problem was, the subjects he wanted to drop were those offered regularly for the computer engineering students, as well as one of the subjects from the second year he hadn't finished yet. I'm suspecting it's either because he doesn't like the teacher (assuming he found out who is teaching) or he doesn't like the classmates. Therefore he is using the excuse that they are dead ends in the flowchart for him to drop them. This is exactly the kind of reckless behavior we have been trying to prevent with our system of specific dropping. The threat of being delayed in finishing only seems to be a far off consequence in their minds. Anyway, so I told him since he wasn't taking the advice I was giving, and I wasn't going to allow him his whims, he should talk to the dean instead with his requests. What's funny is that he already got his number in line to talk to the dean, and he saw one of his batch mates approach me and get advised. So he was hanging around us again like a cat waiting to pounce, but when he tried to talk to me again, I still rebuffed him. The strange part is that the dean left early (around 3pm) and he waited for her until the very end, when she was already in a hurry, and he got his form signed. We could have his enrollment recalled, but since he might have promised his mom he would be able to finish his enrollment in one day, they might go to the campus again and fight his battles for him. Best he see the results of his work the hard way. Session 1293 wants convenient class times. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
