2007-03-17 11:47 AM The Earlier The Students Finish the Project, The More Time They Have Afterwards... To Finish Other Projects in Other Classes Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. My students in Basic Electronics Lab are lucky – well at least the ones who are diligent enough to use an opportunity to finish a project earlier when they see it, that is. So I'm in the campus today even though I don't have any classes, for the river trek. The engineering sophomores are here for their Basic Electronics lecture class, since the teacher is a part-timer and is only free on Saturdays for three hours a week. I went to the cafeteria around half an hour past the time we were supposed to go to the river, just in case there were some students straggling there (yes, even Sir Bjorn admitted he should have put the time as 7am so that people would be complete and ready by the time we left at 8am as originally planned). I saw some of those lab students, and I joked about them going to the river. Wouldn't you know it they really are ready to ditch their class to go to the river. But of course I wouldn't allow them. It would be disrespectful of their teacher. We did, however, set up a schedule where they are going to work in the lab in the afternoon after their class, under my supervision, of course. I agreed, since I will be in school until around 4pm anyway when my cousin's classes finish. I don't know if a certain student will join them. They do have two more meetings for their project, but our other agreement was that if anyone finishes in time for it to be exhibited for Engineering Week next week, the grade will be doubled. I don't know if that certain student knows about the bonus, or is just counting how many weeks-slash-meetings we have left. They certainly can't show up with a project half-finished already, because the last time I saw them, they hadn't even bought the kit yet. Am I going to grade the technicians they hired? Speaking of lecture and laboratories though, I'm not sure if I heard correctly about the last teacher's evaluation by the students: but the psychometry expert of the registrar's office said something like they were supposed to rate both the lecture and the lab classes in one form – even if the teachers are different? Will the lecture class teacher pull me up or pull me down? They should really have separate forms, because it makes the rating more difficult come promotion time. Session 1571 won't work on a Saturday. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
