Work for the Students Literally Piling Up

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

In my Assembly Language programming class, I put the pressure on by giving them their next exercise already before they have even finished with the last two that they're working on.

One is division with decimal places from one to nine without rounding.

This is with a two-digit numerator and a one-digit (non-zero) denominator.

The next one allows having zero decimal places, with rounding.

I already gave them the hint that before they display any of the digits, they should all be stored in user-defined variables first.

Their next exercise is already to display a thirty-two bit number.

But first they have to accept two four-digit numbers to multiply.

And since the standard multiply command cannot be used for extracting the digit at each place of the result, they will have to use the method I instructed them before they used the multiply and divide commands, which is looped or repeated addition and/or subtraction while keeping count of the number of operations.

I gave them one example of the execution table, and they have to complete it to show that they understand how it works.

And just to round out my discussion yesterday: to help one of my co-teachers I had to ask one of my lab classes to assist in the painting of the styrofoam to be used in the exhibits.

And at crunch time this morning putting up the displays, my co-teacher was harrassed by the principal on her work, when she was really angry at the Integrated School teachers for slacking off.

Session 1723 will probably not agree to help again next time. Class dismissed.
