Effectively Only 12 Weeks of Lectures This Term

Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.

Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on.

The college administration yesterday announced that final exams will push through as scheduled, one day ahead of the assumed date (on the last day of the set thirteenth week of classes) and with no more compensations or adjustments made for the three days of class suspension made by the government (only two for weather).

It was just declared that besides providing full services for students and teachers on the 20th, when the campus will be open for those who want to schedule make up classes (but are not required to), for those who still have a few things to finish with their students before they can proceed with the finals.

For my classes, that actually means we missed four days or almost one week.

Not that I would have been giving them extra work before the last evaluation tool.

As I said to one of my former students: when the teacher is content, the students are also content, and the reverse is also true.

Although there are some exceptions where the students' misery is the teacher's happiness, I wouldn't know about that first hand.

The only thing that has to be rescheduled beyond the assigned time of finals is the final competition of the robotics class.

I still have no idea when we could do this, but definitely not on the Monday that is also a holiday. If the Monday after that, the school was also open, maybe, even though that means the students won't get to have Integrated School audiences then.

I have to take into account the possibility that all of my students won't be able to participate then, although it also means I'm okay with it if I just let their robots run myself, without the possibility of having to deduct points from students who will manually try to let their robot win, and just let them watch the videos to see that there was no cheating.

It also means I won't have to listen to Ephraim talk about how good his robot is.

Session 1771 thinks that speaking out loud equals getting a good grade. Class dismissed.
