Mood: Think It's A Good Start Read/Post Comments (0) |
2008-01-15 10:41 AM May It Serve As An Scary Example to Others Student "edition" found at {csi dot journalspace dot com}.
Maybe I shouldn't have started this blog now, not with everything that's been going on. Well, it seems that finally one of the perennially underachieving fourth year engineering students has given in to the recommendation of the dean that he shift courses due to his grades. This student even just came from a trip abroad and only returned yesterday - the start of the second week of classes, showing just how much of a commitment he has to his studies here. The head of the registrar's office, just like with Ephraim, placed a letter in the student's enrollment folder saying that he had to talk to the dean first before proceeding with taking subjects. Since his grade point average has been consistently around the range of one-point-zero or even below (but not for three terms in a row, otherwise he would have been disallowed from enrolling already) he was asked to shift or risk expulsion. I don't know if he was given several choices to shift to (business, communication arts and computer science) but he chose information management, which has some programming courses and also some accounting courses, but no more math he hasn't already taken. Some of his classmates were sad because he'd already taken some fourth year subjects, although there are some branches of the flowchart where he's still on the third year - one even second year - level. But just like with Ephraim, this is not his first warning and since there was no improvement in his grades, he had to abide the by suggestion. As for Ephraim, I don't know if he's enrolled yet, but I do know last Friday he practiced with the Badminton Club as if he was already enrolled. I just hope what one of the registrar's personnel said isn't true, that it's possible for the head of the registrar's to give him another chance if he begs long enough. Session 1977 has a small victory, but a bigger one is pending. Class dismissed. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
